Department of Philosophy, Dev Samaj college for Women, Ferozepur is popular in the academic circle of Panjab University and beyond for creatively rendering philosophical training of the students of the department in particular and students and faculty of the Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur in general. The Department has two creative students’ discussion forums- Critique Ferozepur Chapter, Philosophical Society: A Student’s Discussion Forum which organizes dialogues on current social, political, cultural and contested issues of the country and beyond.
For the last sixteen years the Department in association with the Department of Philosophy, Panjab University, Chandigarh, is continuously organizing annual national seminars in Panjab University, Chandigarh on themes which are significant to the times. Undergraduate and Post Graduate students of our college participate in the discussions who largely hail from rural border area of Punjab at the Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The Department of Philosophy organized the launch of its website on 31st July, 2018 at the College Campus. Mr. Sumer Singh Gurjar, Commissioner, Ferozepur and Faridkot Divisions, Punjab launched the website ( https://www.phildscwfzr.in/ ) at the College premises as Chief Guest and discussed his views with the participants. Mr. Gurjar congratulated the efforts of the Department of Philosophy, particularly the Department teacher Dr. Ambuj Sharma for engaging technology creatively for philosophy and education. He inspired the students and faculty of the college to pursue the activities and idea of education with zeal and enthusiasm. He emphasized the need of women education to transform and build a better society. He on the occasion appreciated the efforts and contribution of the College Principal Dr. Madhu Prashar for leading Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur to the path of success and glory.
