Resistance, Leadership and Youth Politics (30 October, 2013)


Critique Ferozepur Chapter, Philosophical Society organized a seminar on "Resistance, Leadership and Youth Politics" on 30 October, 2013 at the College Campus. Dr. Gopalji Pradhan, Associate Professor in Hindi, from School of Liberal Studies, Ambedkar University, Delhi, deliberated on the Significance of Andolan/resistance in the shaping of democracy and social justice in a society, country. He said that a good and strong leadership emerges from resistance and it should always be encouraged. He said that it is matter of great concern that in contemporary times andolan / resistance movements are restricted by the state and are discouraged but it was the result of andolans that we got freedom from the colonial rule. There are different method of resistance practiced in history and all are being thoroughly researched by scholars, academicians. He said that andolans are continuous process and engagements with issues of self and social justice. it goes on in different ways and evolves from one to another depending upon the context and situation. On the occasion he referred the works of Munshi Prem Chand, Rahul Sankratyan, Terry Egalton, Marx, Bhagat Singh, Gandhi, Ambedkar and many others.
