"A Call against Violence for Peace”

Students of Dev Samaj College for Women, Firozpur City held a protest against the military action by Israel against the Palestinians at Gaza. They strongly condemned the violence against the women and children at Gaza resulting from the shelling and displacement. In a seminar organized on the theme “A Call against Violence for Peace: Request to Israel and Palestine for dialogue” students dwelled on the issues concerning violence between Palestinians and Israel. They discussed the works of Yasser Arafat who was conferred the Noble Peace Prize and urged the leaders of both sides and UN secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to intervene and stop the war.

At a time when the Indian state and its various humanitarian institutions are mum or biased wrt Gaza violence, it is commendable to see that the UG students of DSCW Ferozpur are deliberating and discussing on the issue.
This is not only meant to register their protest. rather, it will also foster critical attitude among the students. the need is to connect such global violent-practices with local practices of India and check if there is some correspondence.
