“Exploring the History of Philosophy: Indian and Western Perspective: Rethinking Sanskrit Language and its Contributions in the Present Times”

Department of Philosophy in collaboration with Department of Sanskrit and Department of Hindi organized a seminar on the theme “Exploring the History of Philosophy: Indian and Western Perspective: Rethinking Sanskrit Language and its Contributions in the Present Times”. The seminar was chaired by college principal, Dr. Madhu Prashar. Students of philosophy department: Sandeep B.A. I, Veerpal B.A. II, Sehjot B.A. I, Manjinder B.A.II, Kurminder B.A. II Sukhwinder B.A.II, Manveer B.A. II, Deepinder B.A. III and Mandeep B.A.III presented their papers on the issues centered to the theme. In the first session the students discussed the nature, problems and methods of Philosophy particularly Indian philosophy. They extensively discussed the astik and nastik schools of Indian philosophy. The students also discussed the Vedas, Upanishads and various schools of Indian philosophy: Nyaya-Visheshika, Samkhya Yoga, Purva and Uttara Mimsa. The students also reflected on the ethics of Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and Gita with the participants. Dr. Madhu Prashar appreciated the students on the occasion and also briefly commented on each paper. Dr. Ambuj Sharma of the Department of Philosophy moderated the seminar which was attended by a large number of students including Dr. Suman Sharma, Head, Department of Sanskrit and Mrs. Madhu Gautam, Head, Department of Hindi.
