Critique Ferozepur Chapter and Philosophical Society, a students discussion forum, Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur, organized a protest against the brutal rape of a five year old little girl at Delhi. The students also blamed the Delhi police administration for not acting promptly on the complaint of a poor labourer leading to a worse condition of the little Child.
Khushpreet Kaur student of M Sc Information Technology, criticizing the barbarous act said that it seems that in the society the common individual or the aam aadmi has no rights, no space left for justice. It seems that the powerful alone are taken seriously by the administration. How these issues of violence should be addressed? Even the Girl’s rights protesters asking the accountability of the police were not spared by a senior police official, one of them was slapped repeatedly and this shows how the male centric society controls the women even in the so called educated spaces, one cannot think of conditions beyond.
Swati another student, said that it is the time to act and let people know, that they cannot confine girls to homes raising security concerns but they have to come out and question this domination and violence against them. The poor girl was minor, alone and helpless at the time of the crime committed against her but it is not just one individual who raped her can only be left responsible for the crime, it is the system, the police who never bothered instantly to trace her, the politicians who remained silent, the mindsets which still disrespect women and girls and their right of freedom and dignity and just consider them merely a commodity are equally responsible. Who shall be punished?
Sandeep argued that the parents need to question their sons and teach them lessons to respect girls and women. Girls have to unite and question any kind of harassment and oppression against them. The students of the campus shared solidarity with the child and prayed for her speedy recovery. They also decided to fight back any injustice come in their way.
