Lok Sabha Elections 2009
With Lok Sabha Elections just round the corner, every political party and their Leaders are on their toes to convince the voters to vote for them. The large sections of voters who will decide the future course of the formation of a new government are the youth of the country.
To know the opinion of young voter brigade, especially the ones who are going to exercise their voting rights for the first time Philosophical Society of the college organized a discussion on “Lok Sabha Elections 2009”. The enthusiasm to vote for the first time among students is very high.
Principal Dr. Madhu Prashar appreciated the initiative of Philosophical Society and said that it is high time for everyone to exercise their voting rights and contribute in the nation development. She added that “Democracy is the best form of government because it provides individual an opportunity to participate and choose the government”
Dharambir, student of the campus said that Lok Sabha Elections 2009 is of great importance as a lot of issues regarding development are in the main stream politics of the country, today. She was however in the dilemma whether the promises being made by various leaders would turn into a reality. She hoped for more jobs in education sector after the elections.
Amandeep Kaur another student and President of Philosophical Society assumed that “It is not just political leaders who will bring and make India shining. Unless people from all walks of life join hands to do their duty honestly with dedication, no change can be brought about”
Navdeep student of B.A. Third year of the campus commented that, “In India people either go by party or by money to vote. But the need is to exercise critical rational thinking to whom should they vote”. She further said that, today India needs leaders like Mother Teresa, Medha Patekar, Yogendra Yadav who can be said the true representatives of the country.
Sukhdeep a student of B.A. First Year is of an opinion that Politics today has become buzz word. She wants youngsters to rationally think before vote. She appealed to the people of the country that they should not get into caste-religion politics but vote on account of the ability and efficiency of the person.
While concluding, Ambuj Sharma of the college expressed that vote is an individual right of a person and they must exercise this right at all costs. He said that students today are more informed and responsible and in days to come many of them would make constructive changes in society.
